Part 1: Metroid series Well, I can’t say I was expecting to write in detail how much I’ve grown to appreciate Metroid this year, but here we are! For the longest time, I never really wanted to do anything with Metroid because I had bad experiences playing the games when I was younger. The whole maze-like structure of the format and keeping track of where to go was too much for the kid me hooked on Mario games. This changed a bit when I reviewed The Mummy: Demastered for TICGN, which is almost basically a Metroid game if it were made by WayForward. Come the reveal of Metroid Dread, though, and I knew I had to get into the series proper. I wasn’t a fan of the series at that time, but I still knew enough about Dread to hear the sound of Metroid fans around the world crying tears of joy. Ryan's Corner: My Games of 2021 (Part 1 of 2)
Boy, what a year it's been huh? We're still knee-deep in the pandemic, but that hasn't stopped us from pretending it's done! Either way, I've played lots of video games this year...to the point where it's difficult for me to really boil down which ones I would consider to be "the best." I also played a good amount of games released in previous years that I never touched prior, so those have also shaped up my 2021 gaming experiences. Especially since...Well, there's loads of games that came out this year that I never even batted an eye on. So instead of doing the typical Top # list where I try to pick the crème of the crop, I figured it would be best if I instead elaborated on the games I played that are worth elaborating on. Whether they are new releases I happened to pick up or games that have long existed but only now have I picked up on, these are the games I played in 2021 that have taken up enough brain cells in my mind for me to want to reflect on them.
